History of Staly Vegas Social Snooker Club

By accident, out one day having a sandwich, I came across the to-let sign on the building and I immediatly phoned up the estate agent. They came down and met me straight away, I walked up the stairs and into the main hall and there was no plaster on the walls, holes in the ceiling. Pigeons were everywhere both alive and dead. There was old apparatus from when it used to be a gym, smashed windows, old chains all broken and it stank of a mouldy wet maggot smell.

But i got goose pimples and I knew it was an ideal place to have a local snooker hall.

I spoke to the landlord, cut a deal with him and on the monday 8th of september 2003, Archway Construction came in and we ripped the place out. After 6 walls had been knocked through, along with a lot of hard work the place was taking shape. We had been in touch with the magistrates for a licence and on the 4th november they came in to have a look around but wouldn't grant a licence because it wasn't quite ready, so we booked them in for the next month, we got the carpet fitted and got cheadle snooker to come down and erect the snooker tables, and on friday december 12th it was granted, the day before our opening night, which Bernard Manning and Jimmy Mickie (pro Snooker player) came down to do a speech and split a few gags, Jimmy never got beaten all night, in fact every break was over 100 we didn't have a chance.
